Casa de Paulo

Founded in Chicago, and named for our our old chihuahua, Mr. Paulo, Casa de Paulo (CdP) has been a fun side-project for my wife and I for over a decade now. CdP is our “imaginary,” eternally one-star rated bed and breakfast. It was never more than a joke between us and our family and friends. Everyone was welcome to stay, but it was questionable if there would be anything past a bed to sleep in. However, when we left Chicago for Austin, and eventually bought an actual house here that we thought it would be fun to offer people who stayed with us some real life CdP swag. So I branded CdP.

I wanted to take a more analog / handmade approach with the branding, and so I made two linocut prints of the design. The prints were then scanned and retraced in Adobe Illustrator. I made the decision to keep the vast majority of the linocut “flaws” in order to help keep the logo organic.
